At The Mandt System, we have designed our courses to provide you with knowledge and training that allows you to build upon foundational skills. With our latest model of The Mandt System, Mandt 3.0, The Conceptual Chapters are now included at every level at no additional cost. We have developed the Conceptual Library to provide additional online resources and to offer an enhanced understanding of key topics such as the importance of trauma-informed services and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Instructors training in The Mandt System can add the Conceptual Module to their certification by completing the eLearning courses after their instructor certification is completed. Then, using our train-the-trainer method, the instructors will be able to certify your staff in the Conceptual chapters as well.
Trauma-Informed Services
What does it mean to provide trauma-informed care? To put it simply, it starts with the understanding that each person has a unique past, unique experiences, and their own trauma histories. This chapter teaches your team how to identify the effects of trauma and how to know the difference between the two types of trauma. Additionally, this chapter provides insight into the internal and external factors that influence resilience to trauma and helpful information about the ways that trauma experiences early in life can affect personal development. This chapter highlights the importance of trauma-informed services and also provides guidance for identifying secondary trauma effects and how your staff can manage those experiences.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) provide a helpful framework to support people when they are exhibiting challenging behavior. This concept emphasizes the importance of recognizing and reinforcing positive behaviors rather than solely focusing on punishing negative behaviors. This chapter also provides a discussion on understanding human behavior, social and emotional skills, and how your efforts to improve the overall safety of your workplace can improve the quality of life for those you serve.
Participants learn the use of positive behavior support in reducing challenging behavior, differences between reinforcement and punishment, understanding antecedents, behavior, and consequences in explaining the nature of behavior, and describing the effect of setting events on behavior.
How Organizations Can Benefit from This Level
No matter your industry, there are immense benefits to creating a trauma-informed environment. Simple trauma-informed practices such as active listening, encouraging positive communication habits, and establishing healthy relationships within your team are excellent ways of creating an environment that promotes physical and emotional safety and prevents crisis situations from arising.

Certification Requirements and Cost
The Conceptual Library is included in each instructor certification at no additional cost. The Conceptual course is in eLearning format. Instructors certify in the Conceptual module by completing the eLearning courses that are assigned after the in-person training.
Request Information
The conceptual chapters are taught through eLearning resources after the in-person instruction. The courses take approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
Certification for instructors occurs every two years, and certification at the student level occurs each year. Instructors recertify every two years, and staff recertify annually.
Any chapter instruction that does not cover physical skills will have a 1:20 instructor-to-student ratio.
The conceptual chapters are designed to be taught as stand-alone units after completing the relational certifications. These chapters do not have to be taught.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are given for all instructor courses. We provide these certifications through IACET, and each certification is calculated at 1 CEU per every 10 hours of course time. Organizations using The Mandt System are responsible for working with their governing bodies on CEUs for staff training
All certified Mandt instructors must teach the relational chapters and be on a course report a minimum of once a year.
