For those of you who have been long-time Instructors of The Mandt System program, you are well aware of all the topics that are covered in the course, but some of you may be brand new to the Mandt Family. Perhaps you are not completely aware of all the topics covered in our training. Those topics include:
Chapter 1 – Building Healthy Relationships – we focus on the need to treat others with dignity and respect and to apply our three broad approaches (Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, RADAR and Crisis Cycle) to all our interactions with people.
Chapter 2 – Building Healthy Communication – we focus on the need for better communication to build relationships, but also to offer verbal de escalation training to our staff/employees. Better communication will also set the stage to help staff learn conflict resolution steps.
Chapter 3 – Building Healthy Conflict Resolution – the major topics covered in this chapter include de escalation training, conflict resolution training, including conflict resolution activities like SODAS.
Chapter 4 – Trauma – this chapter is offered through eLearning. It includes enough information that some organizations use this curriculum to meet their licensing requirements for trauma informed care training, but is also used by school systems for trauma informed classrooms as well.
Chapter 5 – Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) – this is such a great eLearning for agencies and schools that are trying to increase the use of positive behavior support to the best of their ability to better support the folks receiving services.
Chapter 6 – Legal & Liability – this eLearning chapter covers topics like vicarious liability and best practices to keep ourselves and others as safe as possible.
Chapter 7 – Assisting & Supporting – an introduction to the physical skills focused on working with people who need our support or assistance, but not because their behavior poses a threat to their safety.
Chapter 8 – Separating – this chapter discusses those situations that have increased in intensity, but we are still able to verbally interact with the person. We will also cover topics that include physical interventions that allow us to separate ourselves or potentially someone else from the hold of a person served.
Chapter 9 – Restraint (As a Last Resort) – this chapter is a deep dive into conflict resolution techniques, but also covers restraint training when the behavior of the person poses an immediate threat of safety to either themselves or someone else.
